Seneca Falls hires consultants for landfill negotiations

The town of Seneca Falls is negotiating a new host community agreement with Seneca Meadows Inc.

To assist in these talks, the Town Board voted 3-2 on Tuesday to hire landfill consultants William Jones and Michael Coia of Rochester.

The consultants will be paid $100 an hour, up to $14,000 over 12 months, plus travel expenses. Supervisor Frank Schmitter and board members Frank Sinicropi and Jackson Puylara supported the decision, while Kaitlyn Laskowski and Dawn Dyson opposed it.

Laskowski questioned the need for outside consultants over the town’s current ones.

The new consultants will focus on issues like permits, odor compliance, and leachate management. The town expects to receive over $3 million from Seneca Meadows Inc. this year.
