The New York Mets (42-44) suffered a third straight loss on Friday night, falling 14-2 to the Pittsburgh Pirates (42-45) at PNC Park.

New York jumped out to a 2-0 lead on Jeff McNeil’s fifth home run of the season and Jose Iglesias’s run-scoring groundout, but then the pitching completely unraveled.

Luis Severino allowed seven runs on nine hits in six innings, and Jake Diekman gave up a grand slam to Bryan Reynolds, but three runs were charged to Severino. Ty Adcock surrendered six runs, including a grand slam to Rowdy Tellez.

The Mets will turn to David Peterson on Saturday, looking to get back in the win column. The first pitch is scheduled for 4:05 p.m.
