Cayuga Nation gets temporary restraining order against drive-in owner

The Cayuga Nation has secured a temporary restraining order against Paul Meyer, owner of Fingerlakes Drive-In, preventing him from entering Nation property next to the theater in Aurelius.

The restraining order from State Supreme Court in Cayuga County also stops Meyer from disturbing the concrete barriers placed by the Nation to prevent trespassing. The Nation claimed Meyer used heavy machinery to move the barriers on June 27.

In January, the Cayuga Nation bought a 40-acre parcel next to the drive-in for $720,000, alleging that the drive-in encroaches on their land. The Nation has applied to put the property into a federal, tax-exempt trust and filed a lawsuit to resolve the encroachment issue, which is still pending.
