Penn Yan Police arrested a 57-year-old man on June 22 for driving while intoxicated. Bruce G. Rugg was stopped after officers saw his car driving erratically on Liberty Street, crossing into the oncoming lane, and then continuing onto curbs and sidewalks before stopping on Wagener Street.

Rugg failed field sobriety tests and was taken to Yates County Jail. A breath test showed his blood alcohol level was .16%, twice the legal limit. He faces charges of DWI, DWI with a BAC of .08% or greater, failure to keep right, not using a turn signal, and unsafe lane changes.

He was issued tickets and is scheduled to appear in Penn Yan Village Court on July 8 to answer the charges.
