CNY Regional Market board fires executive director after audit

  • Staff Report

The CNY Regional Market board voted Monday to terminate Executive Director Amanda Vitale following a critical audit by the New York state comptroller’s office alleging mismanagement.

Vitale, who succeeded her father in January 2020, expressed shock at the board’s lack of professionalism and claimed she learned about her termination from vendors and employees before the meeting. Board President Tony Emmi announced the decision, with only one member, Randy Daratt, opposing it.

The board also created a new chief executive officer position, appointing former Onondaga County Deputy Executive Bill Fisher to the role with an annual salary of $58,468.80. Vitale’s salary was $106,000. The market’s Facilities Manager Greg Frigon recently resigned, citing poor staff treatment by the board.
