Seneca County joins statewide DWI crackdown

  • Staff Report

Seneca County will take part in the statewide STOP-DWI campaign from July 3-7 to raise awareness about the dangers of impaired driving. This initiative, led by Seneca County Sheriff Timothy J. Thompson, Jr., aims to reduce drunk driving incidents during the holiday weekend.

The Fourth of July is one of the deadliest holidays for impaired driving crashes. Sheriff Thompson urges residents to enjoy the celebrations but to have a plan if they drink. “Avoid a bad decision that you will regret,” he said.

The STOP-DWI campaign is part of several statewide efforts to combat drunk driving. It also includes Memorial Day, Labor Day, Halloween, and other major holidays. To help stay safe, residents are encouraged to use the “Have a Plan” mobile app for finding a sober ride home.
