The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of two people following a lengthy investigation into a stolen credit card and illegal purchases made at the Canandaigua Walmart.

On June 27, Kelli C. Race, 41, and Jonathan R. Alvarez, 41, were arrested at their home on Crown Oak Drive following a month-long investigation. The pair is accused of using a stolen credit card to buy items at the Canandaigua Walmart in late May.

The investigation also revealed that Race and Alvarez stole someone’s identity to rent a cottage on Canandaigua Lake. While there, they entered a restricted area and stole checks, which they then cashed using another person’s identity.

A search warrant at their home uncovered over 50 driver’s licenses, passports, and other IDs of suspected victims. Both were arraigned at CAP Court and are being held without bail at the Ontario County Jail. They will appear in Hopewell and Gorham Town Courts later to face the charges.
