Bicyclist Dies After Crash in Ithaca: Police Open Investigation

A bicyclist died after crashing into a tree on Hudson Street on Monday. Ithaca Police responded around 10:52 a.m. to a report of a person on the ground.

Officers found the bicyclist, who had lost control of their electric bike and hit a tree. They provided first aid until Bangs Ambulance arrived. The bicyclist was taken to Cayuga Medical Center and later transferred to a regional trauma center, where they succumbed to their injuries.

No other people or vehicles were involved in the incident. The identity of the deceased has not been released pending notification of their family.
