A hiker in distress was rescued from the Rim Trail at Robert H. Treman State Park on Saturday afternoon, according to the Enfield Volunteer Fire Company.

At around 3:30 p.m., Enfield Fire & Rescue responded to reports of an unconscious individual near Lucifer Falls. Rescue teams from Special Operations 641, Rescue 642, Utility 644, and Bangs Advanced Life Support Ambulance 959 hiked the trail with rescue gear to reach the hiker.

The hiker was safely extricated using the NYS Park Police’s UTV and an access road. Enfield Volunteer Fire Company thanked Tompkins County DoER Dispatch, Bangs Ambulance, NYS Park Police, and NYS Park Rangers for their swift action and coordination. They also reminded the community that hiking trails can be challenging in extreme heat.
