Giancarlo Stanton changed his diet and offseason workout routine to limit injuries and stay on the field more.

Well, on Sunday morning, before the 80th game of the season, the New York Yankees placed him on the 10-day injured list with a left hamstring strain.

Stanton suffered the injury while rounding third base in the fourth inning of Saturday’s 8-3 victory.

Stanton is hitting .246/.302/.492 with 18 homers and 45 RBI this season.

This is the third time in five seasons that Stanton has landed on the injured list with a left hamstring strain.

It is unknown how long the designated hitter will miss as he undergoes more tests, but he missed 43 games last season with the same injury.
