Tylor Megill struggled early, and the New York Mets (36-39) offense was silenced in an 8-1 loss to the Chicago Cubs (37-40) on Saturday afternoon at Wrigley Field.

Megill allowed five runs in the first and another in the third, and that was all the Cubs needed.

New York’s only run came from Francisco Alvarez, who crushed his third home run of the season in the fifth.

Adrian Houser gave up the other two runs in the sixth over 3.2 innings of relief.

Box Score

The Mets will try to bounce back and take two of three from the Cubs on Sunday Night Baseball. The first pitch is slated for 7:10 p.m.
