The future of the Penn Yan Diner is still very much uncertain.
The historic Penn Yan Diner, one of the few operational dining cars left in the U.S., was badly damaged by a fire on May 21. A GoFundMe campaign has raised over $11,000 to help rebuild the beloved community landmark.
The owners expressed their gratitude for the support, saying, “The fire damaged our building and our hearts, but the community’s outpouring of support has been incredible. We appreciate everyone’s patience as we navigate the insurance process, which could take up to 60 days.”
Despite the setback, the owners and staff are committed to reopening the diner, which has been a cornerstone of Penn Yan for nearly 100 years.
