Seneca Falls police arrested a Waterloo man, which was the fifth time he’d been taken into custody this year, on charges of obstruction and drug possession.

Matthew Garneau, 23, of Waterloo, was arrested on June 18 after a traffic stop, according to the Seneca Falls Police Department.

Garneau attempted to flee during a sobriety test, leading to a foot chase and his arrest for obstruction and resisting arrest. A search of his vehicle revealed drug paraphernalia and controlled substances.

Garneau was charged with obstruction of governmental administration, resisting arrest, criminal possession of a controlled substance, and criminally using drug paraphernalia. He was released on an appearance ticket for a later court date.
