  • Staff Report

Jeremiah Wiedemann, owner of Wiedemann Sons Roofing, was sentenced on June 10, 2024, for attempting to cover up an employee’s workplace death. Wiedemann, 43, pled guilty to tampering with evidence and failing to secure workers’ compensation.

The incident occurred on May 12, 2023, when Wiedemann falsely reported an employee’s fall near Batchellerville Bridge. The worker later died at Albany Medical Center. Investigations revealed the injury actually happened at a Northampton construction site. Wiedemann moved the victim and directed a cleanup to hide the truth.

Inspector General Lucy Lang condemned Wiedemann’s actions, highlighting the importance of workers’ compensation. Wiedemann received five years probation and a fine.
