NY State Shares Water Park Safety Tips for a Fun Summer

The New York Department of State’s Division of Consumer Protection has released water park safety tips to help families enjoy a fun and safe summer. These tips come as nearly 28,000 people have been injured on public water slides over the past five years, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.

Secretary of State Walter T. Mosley emphasizes simple precautions like explaining rules to children, watching rides before getting on, and using proper safety equipment. “These steps can ensure your family makes the most out of a trip to the water park,” Mosley said.

Parents are encouraged to enroll kids in swimming lessons, use life jackets for non-swimmers, and choose bright-colored swimsuits for better visibility. Always supervise children, follow park rules, stay hydrated, and use sunscreen. For more information, visit the New York Department of Health and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission’s pool safety website.
