Mets’ win streak snapped with loss to Rangers

The New York Mets (35-38) had their seven-game win streak snapped on Wednesday night with a 5-3 loss to the Texas Rangers (34-40) at Globe Life Field.

Pete Alonso crushed a go-ahead two-run home run in the sixth, his 16th of the season, but the Rangers scored four unanswered runs to avoid the three-game sweep.

Starling Marte had a game-tying RBI double in the fourth.

Sean Manaea was charged with three runs on two hits over 5.2 innings, while Drew Smith gave up the other two.

The Mets will get the day off Thursday before opening a three-game series with the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field on Friday at 2:20 p.m.
