Free Admission to NY State Parks During Heat Wave

Governor Kathy Hochul announced free admission to all New York State Parks on Wednesday, June 19, and Thursday, June 20, to help New Yorkers cope with this week’s heat wave.

“Extreme heat can be dangerous, and I’m doing everything I can to help families stay safe and cool,” said Governor Hochul. She encouraged residents to take advantage of the free access to state parks to beat the heat, with temperatures expected to feel like the low 90s to over 100 degrees.

New York State Parks Commissioner Pro Tempore Randy Simons expressed support for the initiative, highlighting the variety of parks available, from Jones Beach on Long Island to Allegany State Park in Western New York. New Yorkers are urged to stay hydrated, wear sunscreen, and find cooling centers if needed.
