DEC Releases Guidelines for Open Space Conservation Funding

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) has released draft guidelines for allocating $650 million under the 2022 Environmental Bond Act. The funding aims to protect open spaces, boost recreational access, and preserve habitats.


DEC Interim Commissioner Sean Mahar highlighted the importance of public input on the guidelines, which support projects aligning with the 2016 New York State Open Space Conservation Plan. Eligible applicants include nonprofits and municipalities.
