Residents near Sonnenberg Park are raising concerns about the noise from pickleball games, which are played with hard paddles and plastic balls. The courts, converted from tennis to pickleball to meet growing demand, are open from 6 a.m. to sunset.

Ward 1 City Councilor Michael Mills has brought these noise concerns to the Council’s Environmental Committee, which will discuss limiting playtime from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at a meeting on June 20. Residents have also complained about parking issues and players using car headlights to extend play after sunset.

City Manager John Goodwin stated that if the committee approves the new time limits, the proposal will go before the full Council at its next meeting.
