Auburn’s new contractor, Northern Asphalt LLC, has started the city’s $1.7 million street paving program this week, beginning with four streets in the southeastern quadrant.

The first phase focuses on Havens Avenue, Maple Street, Scammel Avenue, and Steel Street. Additional streets include Metcalf Drive, Pulsifer Drive, and Walnut Street. The city’s engineering department uses a quadrant-based approach for repaving, prioritizing areas with failing grades.

The project also includes manhole and sidewalk ramp repairs. More streets may be added based on available state funding, with Mayor Jimmy Giannettino suggesting State Street as a priority.
