$500K funding boost for CNY education, services, and safety

State Senator Rachel May announced Monday that half a million dollars will be allocated to various organizations throughout Central New York to enhance education, community service, and public safety.

Auburn schools will receive $50,000 for tutoring resources, while $20,000 will support Cayuga County Health Network’s Street Outreach and Wellness program. “Supporting these organizations is crucial for improving life in Central New York,” said Senator May. “This funding will bring positive changes by providing essential needs such as food, education, housing, and safety.”

The funding will be distributed as follows:

Human Services:

  • Lemoyne College: $50,000 for Healthcare Advancement Resource Center
  • ACR Health: $50,000 for Health Insurance Navigation Support
  • CNY Jazz: $25,000 for Public Health Series
  • Meals on Wheels (CNY): $25,000 for Volunteer Recruitment and Retention
  • CNY Blessing Box: $50,000 for Refugee Food Pantry
  • Cayuga County Health Network: $20,000 for Street Outreach and Wellness

Education:

  • Auburn Schools: $50,000 for tutoring resources
  • Syracuse University: $60,000 for Inclusive U
  • Onondaga Nation School: $30,000 for Community Language and Culture Center

Public Safety:

  • OG’s Against Violence: $20,000 for Violence Prevention
  • City of Syracuse: $70,000 for Gun Violence Prevention
  • Center for Community Alternatives: $50,000 for Violence Prevention
