Newark man charged with DWI in Seneca Falls

Police say a Newark man was taken into custody after a traffic stop on Balsely Road over the weekend.

The Seneca Falls Police Department arrested John M. Hotchkiss, 32, of Newark, on Sunday evening following a traffic stop on Balsley Road. Officers determined Hotchkiss was driving while intoxicated.

Hotchkiss was charged with speeding, driving with a blood alcohol content of .08% or higher, and driving while intoxicated. Both DWI charges are felonies due to a previous conviction. He was given an appearance ticket for the Town of Seneca Falls Court.

Hotchkiss also had an outstanding warrant from the New York State Police. He was handed over to their custody after the arrest.
