Mets cruise past Rangers for sixth straight win

Make it six straight wins for the New York Mets (34-37) as they cruised past the Texas Rangers (33-39), 14-2, on Monday night in the series opener at Globe Life Field.

New York pounded out 22 hits, with everyone contributing in some fashion. Six of the nine players in the starting lineup had multiple hits.

Brandon Nimmo went 3-for-4 with four RBI, including his eighth home run of the season. Francisco Lindor collected four hits and drove in two runs. DJ Stewart crushed a three-run homer, his fifth of the season. Pete Alonso tallied three hits and plated two runs. Francisco Alvarez had three hits and two RBI, while Jeff McNeil chipped in an RBI.

David Peterson tossed six innings of two-run ball while striking out six. Adam Ottavino fired two scoreless before Drew Smith recorded the final three outs.
