Two men were sentenced on Thursday for their roles in the September 2022 shooting death of William Waugh, a former Waterloo resident.
Wayne Ellison Jr., who pleaded guilty to manslaughter in April, received a 20-year prison sentence. Christopher Kesterson, of Phelps, was acquitted of murder but was sentenced to 15 years in prison for weapons possession.
The incident occurred at a home on Route 96 in Waterloo. The Finger Lakes Times reports that Kesterson provided Ellison, a Waterloo resident, with the weapon used in the shooting. The initial trial in December ended in a mistrial due to a procedural error, after being postponed from August when additional evidence was introduced.
