New Yorkers can now carry a digital version of their driver’s license, learner permit, or ID on their smartphones. Governor Kathy Hochul announced the launch of Mobile ID, which can be used at certain airports and businesses nationwide.

Mobile ID is available for both iOS and Android users with a valid state-issued ID. Users can download the Mobile ID app from Google Play or the App Store. In New York, it can currently be used at LaGuardia and JFK airports, as well as nearly 30 other airports across the country.

Governor Hochul highlighted the convenience and security of Mobile ID, which requires Face ID, Touch ID, or a six-digit PIN to unlock. While the Mobile ID is a useful companion, New Yorkers should still carry their physical IDs since not all businesses may accept the digital version yet.
