Juan Soto returns as Yankees take series opener from Royals

Juan Soto returned from a three-game absence, and the New York Yankees (47-21) picked up a 4-2 victory over the Kansas City Royals (39-28) on Monday night at Kauffman Stadium. 

New York scored all four runs in the first four innings on an RBI single from Alex Verdugo, a sacrifice bunt from DJ LeMahieu, and a two-run single from Jose Trevino. 

Carlos Rodón continued his bounce-back season with seven innings of one-run ball. Ian Hamilton tossed a scoreless eighth before Michael Tonkin recorded his second carer Major League save.
