The Town Board accepted a $75,000 donation from the Cayuga Nation to purchase a used 2013 Hyundai excavator at an auction. The decision passed with a 3-2 vote.
Supervisor Frank Schmitter and board members Frank Sinicropi and Jackson Puylara voted in favor, while Kaitlyn Laskoski and Dawn Dyson opposed. The resolution was added without prior notice, sparking questions from Laskoski about the excavator’s condition and its supervised use.
Schmitter noted the Nation plans to use it mainly for installing drain lines at their garden on Ovid Street.
