The Steuben County District Attorney’s Office has cleared Hornell Police Chief Ted Murray of any criminal charges following an investigation into an incident reported by his department.
Prosecutors in Steuben County said late last week that the Hornell police had self-reported the unspecified incident involving Chief Murray about a month ago. The investigation, requested by Mayor John Buckley and the Hornell Board of Public Safety, lasted three weeks and included interviews, body cam footage, and police records.
While the specifics of the incident remain undisclosed, Baker confirmed the matter was non-criminal. Chief Murray’s job status remains unchanged as city officials review the findings.
