The Philadelphia Phillies (45-19) used a six-run fourth inning to take down the New York Mets (27-36), 7-2, in Game 1 of the London Series on Saturday afternoon.

New York jumped out to a first-inning lead on Starling Marte’s RBI double to left and held it through the first three frames. Then, things unraveled for the Mets.

Bryce Harper tied the game with a long solo shot, and the Phillies took the lead on two straight, two-out hits, including a White Merrifield three-run bomb, and never looked back.

Sean Manaea gave up six of the runs on seven hits and fell to 3-3 with a 4.30 ERA.

J.D. Martínez added a run-scoring groundout in the fifth but grounded into a game-ending double play with the bases loaded.

Box Score

The Mets will try to leave London with a series split on Sunday when they hand the ball to Jose Quintana. The first pitch is set for 10:10 a.m.
