Sam Miller, a Finger Lakes Community College student, has been honored with the Tom Hope Media Scholar Award. This prestigious award recognizes Miller for his exceptional character, academic excellence, and outstanding media work.

Miller, a second-year New Media major, was nominated by FLCC professors Paul Engin and Rick Cook. Sponsored by the Rochester Association for Film Arts and Sciences (RAFAS), the Hope Scholar Program annually awards stipends to select media students to support their transition into the media profession. The award is named in honor of the late Tom Hope, a media visionary and mentor.

Other 2024 Tom Hope Scholars include Melissa Gibney (University of Rochester), Sydney Hvizdzak (Roberts Wesleyan University), Saige Kanik (Rochester Institute of Technology), Allison Lyons (St. John Fisher University), Timothy Pratt (SUNY Brockport), and Jeremy Southern (Monroe Community College). The ceremony featured four-time New York Emmy® award-winning filmmaker Don Casper as the keynote speaker.
