The New York Yankees (45-19) completed a three-game sweep of the Minnesota Twins (33-29) and extended their win streak to a season-high eight games with an 8-5 victory on Thursday night in the Bronx.

Despite the win, Yankees fans are holding their breath after Juan Soto exited the game with left forearm discomfort following a 56-minute rain delay in the sixth inning. Manager Aaron Boone said it’s something he had been dealing with for the last week. Soto will undergo imaging on Friday.

Trent Grisham, who hasn’t played much this season, crushed a two-run home run and added a sacrifice fly. Gleyber Torres had a two-run double, Giancarlo Stanton smoked a two-out RBI single, and Austin Wells chipped in a sacrifice fly.

Marcus Stroman allowed five runs on six hits in 4.2 innings. Ian Hamilton, Victor González, Luke Weaver, Tommy Kahnle, and Clay Holmes combined for 4.1 scoreless.

Box Score

The Yankees will continue their homestand on Friday when they open a three-game series with the Los Angeles Dodgers at 7:05 p.m.
