Veteran TV anchor Don Alhart hosts final broadcast after 58 years in Rochester (video)

Don Alhart, the beloved anchor and journalist at 13WHAM-TV, has retired after a distinguished 58-year career.

Known for his calm demeanor and trustworthy reporting, Alhart began his career at 13WHAM-TV in 1966. Over the decades, he became a staple in many households, delivering nightly news with professionalism and warmth. His contributions to journalism have earned him numerous awards, including five Edward R. Murrow Awards and a place in the New York State Broadcasters Association Hall of Fame.


“After half a century, it feels like the right time to step away,” Alhart said during his final broadcast. “I am grateful to our viewers and my colleagues for their unwavering support.”
