Finger Lakes Community College (FLCC) Athletics has announced that Esports team members can now earn academic credit for their participation. Starting this academic year, students will receive credit through courses ESP 276 and ESP 277, sponsored by the Health and Physical Education Department.

The courses, worth one credit hour each, cover essential Esports skills like tournament protocols, match organization, and team participation. “Students will also learn about program management, communication, and team-building,” said Esports Head Coach Michael Van Etten.

FLCC is among the first SUNY Community Colleges to offer academic credit for Esports. The program has seen significant growth, boasting over 100 participants and multiple national championships. This initiative aims to further integrate Esports into the academic framework and attract more students to the program.
