Bird Banding demonstration coming to Seneca Meadows Wetland Preserve this weekend

  • Staff Report

Seneca Meadows Inc. and Braddock Bay personnel are inviting the public to a Bird Banding Demonstration on Saturday, June 8, 2024, from 8:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the Seneca Meadows Wetland Preserve, 1712 Black Brook Road.

Join Andrea Patterson from Braddock Bay to observe bird banding up close and learn how this process helps document bird populations, breeding activities, and conditions. Last year’s event saw the banding of several Song and Swamp Sparrows, Ruby-throated Hummingbirds, Common Yellowthroats, and Red-winged Blackbirds. This year, they hope to catch even more species.

The event is free and open to all ages. Space is limited, so registration is required. To sign up, visit Bird Banding Registration. For more information, contact Fred Leff at (315) 956-0462 or email [email protected].

This program is sponsored by Seneca Meadows Inc., Montezuma Audubon Center, and Braddock Bay. Learn more about Seneca Meadows Wetland Preserve at Seneca Meadows Wetlands Preserve and follow them on Facebook at Seneca Meadows Education Center.
