Yankees’ Aaron Judge, Luis Gil earn American League honors for May

New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge and starting pitcher Luis Gil have been honored for their performances in helping the team go 21-7 in May.

On Monday, Major League Baseball announced that Judge is the American League Player of the Month while Luis Gil is the American League Pitcher and Rookie of the Month.

Judge hit .361 with 14 home runs, 12 doubles, 22 walks, and 27 RBI. Gil went 6-0 with a 0.70 ERA over 38.2 innings while striking out 44, including 14 on May 18.

This is just the third time in franchise history that the Yankees have won the Player and Pitcher of the Month awards in the same month.
