The New York Mets season has been filled with blown leads, and it happened again on Sunday afternoon, leading to a 5-4 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks in the series finale at Citi Field.

New York (24-35) led 4-3 in the top of the ninth inning until Jake Diekman gave up a two-run home run to Ketel Marte, and that was the difference.

The Mets fell behind 3-0 after two but scored four in the third to take the lead. Pete Alonso opened the scoring with a run-scoring single, Brandon Nimmo tied the game with a two-run triple, and J.D. Martínez hit a go-ahead triple.

Jose Quintana lasted just four innings while allowing three runs.

The Mets will head to Washington for a three-game series against the Nationals that begins on Monday at 6:45 p.m.
