An Ithaca man, Arthur A. Harriett, was found guilty by a jury on Thursday for kidnapping, assault, and robbery charges related to an incident last September, announced Tompkins County District Attorney Matthew Van Houten. Harriett, 49, will be sentenced on August 1.

The charges stem from a September 17, 2023 incident where Harriett assaulted two men with a machete, threatened them with a shotgun, held them in a dog crate, and stole their personal property. The most serious charges are Class B felonies, which could result in 8 to 25 years in state prison.

Harriett has been remanded to Tompkins County Jail pending his sentencing.
