Mets hold off Diamondbacks for second straight win

The New York Mets (24-33) held on for a 10-9 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks (25-32) on Friday night at Citi Field and have taken the first two games of this four-game series.

Everyone in the starting lineup recorded at least a hit, and four players had multi-hit games. Starling Marte went 2-for-4 with a bases-clearing triple and a run-scoring single. J.D. Martinez smacked a two-run home run, his fifth of the season. Mark Vientos collected three hits and drove in two runs, while Francisco Lindor and Pete Alonso added RBI.

Luis Severino allowed five runs (four earned) in 5.1 innings. Sean Reid-Foley and Reed Garrett each gave up two runs.

The Mets will try to win the series on Saturday at 4:10 p.m. Sean Manaea will take the ball for New York.
