Seneca County Sheriff Tim Thompson reported that deputies arrested Matthew R. Garneau, 23, of Waterloo, on Thursday around 2:56 a.m. Garneau was arrested on a bench warrant for petit larceny and found with suspected crack cocaine.

Garneau was initially taken into custody on the bench warrant. During the arrest, deputies discovered he was in possession of a controlled substance. He was transported to the Seneca County Correctional Facility to await arraignment at CAP Court for the bench warrant and was issued an appearance ticket for criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree.

Earlier this spring, Garneau was also arrested for criminal mischief and two counts of criminal contempt. He violated a court order by approaching and engaging in an altercation with a protected individual, and he damaged their vehicle. Garneau fled but was later apprehended and charged with additional criminal contempt for being near another protected party. He is currently in the Seneca County Jail and will face these charges at a later date.
