Four rest stops on the New York State Thruway have reopened this year after extensive renovations, with more set to reopen later in 2024. The Oneida, Port Byron, Warners, and Guilderland rest areas are now open, providing new amenities like restaurants, outdoor seating, playgrounds, and pet walking areas. These upgrades are part of a $450 million project to modernize the Thruway’s service areas.
In total, 23 of the Thruway’s 27 rest stops will be rebuilt, with four others getting renovations. Ten rest areas are still under construction, with completion expected next year. The rest stops are being updated to include popular food options such as Burger King, Starbucks, and Chick-fil-A.
The project aims to enhance the experience for travelers, offering a range of dining options and improved facilities. For more information and updates on the renovation progress, visit the New York State Thruway Authority’s website.
