Former Geneva North Street teacher faces 17 charges in Monroe County over sexually abusing children

Authorities in Geneva announced the arrest of a former teacher at the city’s North Street school between 2022 and 2023.

On May 22 Robert W. Petit was arrested by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department on charges of sexual abuse and child endangerment.


Petit faces eleven counts of Sexual Abuse in the First Degree and six counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child for incidents that occurred at the Wheatland-Chili School District in March 2023.

Petit was a teacher at Geneva Central School District’s North Street School from 2022 to 2023. The investigation is ongoing, with assistance from the Ontario County District Attorney’s Office and the Child Advocacy Center of the Finger Lakes.
