The Yates County Sheriff’s Office has donated a 1997 Penn Yan patrol boat to the Finger Lakes Boating Museum for display. This donation, approved by the Yates County Legislature, honors the local history of Penn Yan Boats and the Sheriff’s Office.

The process, initiated under retired Sheriff Ronald G. Spike, was completed last week, according to Sheriff Frank Ryan. “It was a pleasure to bring this project to completion and place one of the final boats produced by the Penn Yan Boat Company into a museum where it can be appreciated,” Ryan said. The boat, a marked Yates County Sheriff Patrol vessel, will now be on display for those interested in the history of Penn Yan Boats.

The Yates County Legislature and the Sheriff’s Office marine patrol unit facilitated the transfer. Pictured are Kara Calder and Ed Wightman from The Finger Lakes Museum, Sheriff Frank Ryan, and Undersheriff Brandon Jensen.
