Juan Soto homered twice on Wednesday night as the New York Yankees (34-17) snapped a two-game skid with a 7-3 victory over the Seattle Mariners (27-23) at Yankee Stadium.
Soto hit a two-run shot in the third and a solo home run in the sixth, raising his season total to 13. Aaron Judge also crushed his 14th long ball of the season, while Alex Verdugo smacked his sixth.
Nestor Cortes fired five shutout innings and allowed just three hits while striking out six. Tommy Kahnle made his first big-league appearance since last September and tossed a scoreless frame.
Luis Gil will take the ball on Thursday as the Yankees look to split this four-game series with the Mariners. The first pitch is scheduled for 12:35 p.m.
