Multiple police agencies in Tompkins County make series of arrests after 8-hour GIVE operation

Deputies from the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office, in collaboration with a member of the Tompkins County Probation Department, conducted an 8-hour operation under the Gun Involved Violence Elimination (GIVE) program, resulting in multiple arrests in Ithaca.


Jamie N. Gerhart, 45, of Brooktondale, was arrested for possessing fentanyl and crack cocaine, resulting in two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance. George J. Pyhitla, 25, of Ithaca, was charged with Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia after deputies allegedly saw him using narcotics near the County Human Services Building. Patrick F. Booker was arrested for possessing nearly 40 baggies of crack cocaine and one baggie of cocaine. Booker, a repeat offender, faces a felony charge and was held without bail.

The GIVE program, aimed at reducing gun violence, will transition to the Ithaca City Police Department on July 1, 2024. Sheriff Osborne praised the deputies’ efforts in combating violent crime and expressed confidence in the continued success of the initiative under the new leadership.
