Sterling sex offender held on $10,000 bail after failing to register

Robert J. O’Connor, 33, of Sterling, was arrested by the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office on May 15, 2024, for failing to comply with the New York State Sex Offender Registry requirements.

O’Connor, a Level 3 Sexual Predator, was charged with failing to verify his address every 90 days and failing to report a change of address within 10 days, both E felonies.


The charges resulted from an investigation revealing that O’Connor had moved without registering his new address.

He was arraigned at the Centralized Arraignment Court and held on $10,000 bail or $20,000 bond. O’Connor is scheduled to appear in the Town of Sterling Court on May 20.
