Senator Pam Helming announced that Mari Potter, a small business owner, has been named the 2024 Woman of Distinction for the 54th Senate District. The honor is part of the New York State Senate Women of Distinction program, which recognizes outstanding women for their contributions to their communities.

Mari Potter, alongside her husband Tim, owns 13 McDonald’s restaurants in the Finger Lakes region. An active member of the community, Potter serves on the board of Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) of Rochester and chairs its Development Committee. Her restaurants raised over $37,000 for RMHC last year. Additionally, through McDonald’s Archways to Opportunity program, her organization provided more than $94,000 in tuition assistance to 50 local employees in 2023.

Senator Helming praised Potter for her dedication to the region, her support for employees, and her philanthropic efforts. Potter was honored at the Women of Distinction ceremony in Albany, where she expressed hope that her recognition would inspire others to support RMHC.
