New York’s EBT system will be unavailable May 19th

  • Staff Report

The New York EBT system will be down from 12:01 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Sunday, May 19, according to the Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance (OTDA). The outage, which could be shorter or longer than expected, is due to a changeover to a new EBT vendor.

During this period, cardholders will not have access to food and cash purchases, cash withdrawals, the EBT customer service helpline, the mobile app, or the online client portal. Although the EBT cards and PINs will remain the same, the OTDA advises cardholders to change their PIN regularly to prevent fraud.

After the transition, the ConnectEBT app and client portal will be replaced by ebtEDGE, where cardholders can manage transactions, deposits, and card security features. The EBT customer service helpline phone number will stay the same at (888) 328-6399.
