Social Security Commissioner Martin O’Malley took this opportunity to honor mothers nationwide, saying, “Happy Mother’s Day to all the incredible moms in our lives. Your love, strength, and selflessness motivate us all, and we thank you for everything you do. Know that Social Security is here to help you continue to provide for your families – by securing a Social Security number for your child, filing for benefits for yourself or your family members, and so much more. We will never stop working for you.”

What’s Influencing Baby Names?

Since 1997, the Social Security Administration has been the go-to source for baby name trends, thanks to their annual compilation of names dating back to 1880. The 2023 list reveals a significant influence from social media stars. Kaeli, the fastest-rising girl’s name, skyrocketed 1,692 spots, likely inspired by YouTube and TikTok star Kaeli McEwen. On the boys’ side, Eiden saw a similar surge, likely thanks to TikTok creator Wyatt Eiden’s massive online following.

Powerful names are also on the rise. Emryn, which means “ruler,” made a notable debut in the Top 1000, jumping 1,287 spots. For boys, Chozen, inspired by a character from the hit Netflix show Cobra Kai, climbed to number 813.
