In the city of Canandaigua Midland Management LLC of Rochester has updated its Parkwood housing subdivision plans to align with the city’s zoning ordinance after facing initial opposition.

The redesigned plans, which were reviewed by the City Council’s Planning Committee on May 7th, now include a new entrance and exit on North Main Street.

The committee has expressed support for these plans, with a resolution expected to be presented to the full Council on June 6th.

The subdivision’s redesign comes after Midland Management withdrew its original request to rezone the 23-acre undeveloped land from residential to a planned unit development (PUD).

Initially proposed in 2021, the development aims to offer 73 rental townhouses, with rent projected between $1,800 and $1,900 per month. The new design adheres to the city’s comprehensive plan by offering high-quality rental housing and higher-density residential development.
