The Auburn City Council has selected Northern Asphalt LLC as the new contractor for its annual street repaving initiative, breaking a five-year streak with the previous contractor.
At the council meeting on Thursday, Northern Asphalt, a Riccelli-Northern affiliate from North Syracuse, secured the $1.7 million contract with the lowest bid of $1,769,358, underbidding Vitale Companies’ offer of $1,985,515.
The 2024 road program targets seven critical streets rated as failing, including portions of Havens Avenue, Maple Street, and Walnut Street, focusing on comprehensive resurfacing and infrastructural enhancements.
This decision follows the council’s policy to accept the “lowest responsible bidder” to optimize fiscal resources.
